This is a software program that specializes in self-hosting for your blog and website. When I first started blogging I didn’t know what a self-hosted blog was or why it was important so let’s dive in and answer those real quick.
What is a self-hosted blog?
Self-hosted means you own full rights to the blog in a private web server. For example, if you were using WIX (which I don’t recommend using)… and let’s say their entire company crashes and disappears…so does your website.
If you’re self-hosted…nobody can take away your blog or website from you. This is especially important for people who want to make a full-time income online from blogging or running a website!
Why is owning a self-hosted blog important?
It’s all about control! You get to have FULL control over your blog and website. You own full rights to it. Meaning you can write whatever you want (as long as it’s true and doesn’t hurt anybody). Your layout, design, search-engine-optimization, income streams, revenue sources, collaborations, you name it…
You have full control and rights to do what you want with your blog and website.
However, you can’t say the same about other social media platforms. If you’re running your business on Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, FB, and those social media sites disappeared tomorrow?
You wouldn’t have a business.
Until you have a self-hosted blog you don’t technically fully own it. So get self-hosted!
I love Bluehost for beginners. They have incredible customer service and they’re only $3.95 per month. Plus, you get a FREE domain and SSL certificate!
