In this blog post, let’s dive into how to get more done for your blog even if you feel like time is limited in a day.
24 hours, 1440 minutes, 86,400 seconds… whichever way you put it…we all have the same amount of time in a single day. Lately, it seems like the clock is ticking faster and productivity is getting lower. For bloggers, every single minute counts if we want to be successful in our work.
Whether you’re a seasoned blogger or a complete newbie… here are five super simple productivity tips to help you create a bigger impact and income now.
1. Find your flow and create a time block.
For most bloggers they’re able to have flexibility in their schedule, so make the most of it.
If you know you work best in the morning, create a time block to produce your best work then. Night owl? Let’s get to work then and create a schedule where you block out your productivity.
There’s a pervasive myth in the blogger world: To be successful, you must wake up at 5 am and start work by 6. This is ridiculous and destructive to those who struggle to find inspiration in the 5 am club. Find your flow, create a time block, get to work.
2. Set a timer.
Ever feel like you’re staring at your screen for hours on end, and then you blink and the project isn’t done? The proposal isn’t submitted? Because you’re distracting yourself? SET A TIMER.
Sounds simple, but it’s surprising how many people don’t do this. For example, let’s say you’re a freelancer and you have to write ten posts.
Divide up your time and set a timer for each post. You’ll find yourself more focused with the clicking tock and it almost becomes a game. How fast and efficient can I work before the clock strikes 0:00? Set a timer for the appropriate project, and start working.
3: Turn off distractions. ALL distractions.
This tips stacks on top of the second. There’s no point in setting a timer if all your social media apps are open. Or if FB messenger is dinging away, and your mom won’t stop calling on FaceTime.
Turn off your phone if you have to, close all tabs. You’ll find the amount of work you can complete is shocking, so start closing those tabs and apps.
4. Only check email twice a day. THAT’S IT.
Out of these four hacks, this one has produced the most results. Think about it…
You’re on a deadline for your project and your email is going off with the latest freebie and giveaway.
You’re writing content for social media and then you find yourself writing customer service responses…
This is where we schedule our time to check our emails. This also means turning off notifications of emails. on our phones and computers. If you put out small fires all day, you won’t have time to grow your business into a booming, money-making machine.
The best course of action is to schedule two times a day (10-15 minutes) to check your email. Set a timer…( see how to hack number 2 is coming in handy here?) And once the timer goes off, that’s it.
Of course, there’s always going to be plenty of curveballs and surprises and distractions galore.
Entrepreneurship is about work and play. It’s creating a life that not only benefits you, but your friends, family, community, and the world.
Productivity is necessary for balance. But even implementing one of these hacks and give you back your time, and by default, give you back your life.
